Do you have fieldsports first aid?
First Aid Course Tailored for Fieldsports – A Lifesaving Skill for Remote and Challenging Environments
Holland and Holland, Wednesday, 2nd April 2025 – Are you up to date with your first aid? Sandstone and Women Who Work in Fieldsports (WWWF) is excited to announce a bespoke first aid course designed specifically for those involved in fieldsports. Aimed at participants and instructors operating in remote locations with off-road vehicles and weapons, this course offers essential, hands-on training to tackle the unique challenges faced in these high-risk environments.
Fieldsports can be hugely rewarding, but they also come with inherent risks. The ability to act decisively and competently in an emergency is not only empowering but potentially lifesaving. This course, developed in collaboration with experts in the field, is based around a tailored risk assessment for fieldsports and provides practical, real-world solutions that equip you to be your own first responder when emergency services may not be immediately accessible.
Timothy Bradshaw from Sandstone who is running the event says, “As a simple example in the event of a major bleed you have just 2 minutes to save a life so not only is carrying the right kit vital but also where it’s located. The same is true of an AED. Once 3 minutes has passed its effectiveness is hugely reduced so its location and access are critical. In Scotland we are creating 3 hour courses for licence holders run at shooting schools. It adds to the value of the hobby and also goes down very well with Police licensing authorities as a responsible gun owner. We’ve actually found that participants really enjoy the course and see it as valuable.”
Course Highlights:
Risk-Specific First Aid Training: The course is structured around a comprehensive fieldsports risk assessment, ensuring that participants learn exactly what they need to handle potential emergencies in the field.
Practical, Outdoor Learning: Training is delivered through realistic outdoor scenarios, mimicking actual situations that fieldsports professionals may face, ensuring participants are fully prepared for real-world emergencies.
Health and Safety Executive Compliant: The course adheres to the latest Health and Safety Executive guidelines, guaranteeing that you receive the highest standard of training.
