April Profile: Lucy Allen
A keen countrywoman, Lucy Allen has a deep-rooted connection with country life. Her upbringing immersed her in various activities, from stalking and shooting to beating and picking up.
In a very male dominated industry, Lucy often found herself fighting to be seen and heard. People would often raise their eyebrows in surprised when they saw her handlining a gun, assuming she was holding it for someone else. But these challenges only fuelled her determination to change the narrative. Lucy explains that she loves about clay pigeon shooting and game shooing is that it’s a completely level playing field – you don’t need to be physically fit, it just requires a good aim and steady hand.
One pivotal moment occurred with a close friend expressed interest in joining Lucy in the beating line. From that first day, her friend was hooked, but struggled to find clothing that was both functional and made her feel confident. That’s when it hit Lucy – there needs to be a platform for women’s shooting, outdoor pursuits, and country clothing.
Collaborating closely with Sorrel, On The Peg Clothing's founder, Lucy took ownership alongside her two Spaniels as Sorrel's other commitments intensified.
On The Peg Clothing’s mission is clear: to empower women in outdoor pursuits with clothing that not only serves a purpose but also enhances their journey. Each brand they stock is meticulously selected to meet standards of quality, functionality, and alignment with their ethos.
But their journey doesn't end there. On The Peg Clothing features inspiring guest blogs from women passionate about outdoor pursuits and sponsors ladies' days, fostering community and support.
